Better Angels

Sewanee is known for angels, but we often don't stop to think about what this means. This summer, we will look at angels from many different aspects. The lecture series will consider angels as spiritual beings and also explore the ideas put forth by Shakespeare, Lincoln, and others who referred to our better angels. Do we have an angelic mission? What does that look like for each of us?  The crafts, photos, games, and even the food will reflect our playing with the angelic theme.

Dinner & Music

Delicious dinners served by volunteers in Kennerly Hall. No cost; we will accept donations to defray the cost. A short dinner program beginning at 5:30 will include singing together as well as a puppet show or skit.

Each night, we will offer a lecture on the Better Angels theme. Lecturers include:
Rebecca Wright on the angels in the Bible and today

Ross McDonald on the angels in Paradise Lost

Robin Bates on the angels in contemporary fantasy fiction

Watch this space for evening lecture schedule.
